International Journal of Business Performance Management, 2025, vol. 26, issue 2, 250-269

Abstract: This study aims to investigate the relationship between human resource management practices namely recruitment and selection practices, training and development practices, compensation and benefits practices, and performance appraisals practices, towards employee performance in Malaysian private universities. This study employed a convenience sampling technique among administrators at one of the largest private universities in Malaysia. Two hundred and forty-two usable questionnaires were gathered and analysed using IBM SPSS Statistics 23 software and smart partial least square (SmartPLS) version 3. According to the findings, all four HRM practices have significant relationships to employee performance. As a result, the findings should aid organisations particularly HR practitioners, academics, and top management members in providing insight into managing Malaysian private university personnel.
