International Journal of Business Performance and Supply Chain Modelling, 2013, vol. 5, issue 4, 361-377

Abstract: Although the roles of leadership on managing supply chain is widely documented in the literature, there is a paucity of research studies in supply chain management (SCM) literature on examining the influence of transformational leadership style on effectively managing supply chain activities. In this direction, this study investigates the nature of the associations between transformational leadership behaviours and implementation of SCM practices in 95 service firms located in Kingdom of Bahrain. Data were analysed with the help of a series of hierarchical regression analysis. It was found from the analysis that after controlling for firm's age, type, size and capital, leaders' individualised consideration behaviour is positively related to supply chain integration and supply chain characteristics. Further, charismatic leadership and intellectual stimulation behaviours are positively related to just-in-time activities.
