Research evaluation and management for effective policy making in Thailand

Abstract:
This paper focuses on the national evaluation system of Thailand. The results presented in this paper are based on the research conducted for the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT). The research aims to integrate evaluation and management which would enable effective evaluation system and assist research funding decision making. NRCT has focused on research areas of: (i) agriculture and agricultural industry, (ii) science, technology, and industry, (iii) medicine and health, and (iv) social and cultural development. The study would be useful to policy makers in other countries attempting to develop a comprehensive evaluation programme for producing useful research.
