Abstract:
In the offshore oil and gas (O&G) production industry, integrated planning (IP) is under development and implementation in some oilfields for better management of complex work processes. Despite many challenges, major producers are interested in promoting IP as a standard solution across their assets around the world. This paper is based on a case study conducted in close cooperation with one of the major oil producers in the North Sea, with the presumption that IP processes towards regional assets are highly affected by various factors in different business environments. Thus the study compared the IP development and implementation process in two separate business environments: namely, the North Sea and Bohai Bay. It elaborates on the major differences noted in the IP process, and discusses the internal and external influence factors that have clear effects on IP.
