Privatisation of seaport infrastructures: a framework for understanding the transfer of property rights

Nathan Bowden and Martin De Jong

International Journal of Critical Infrastructures, 2006, vol. 2, issue 2/3, 294-317

Transfer of property rights from the public to the private sector has a number of consequences right from the way in which key functions in ports are performed. This paper, after presenting the state-of-the-art theory on port management and port privatisation, claims that current classifications are too general.
