Michal Polgár

International Journal of Diplomacy and Economy, 2014, vol. 2, issue 3, 185-201

Abstract: The aim of this paper is to analyse and evaluate the current state of economic diplomacy in the Slovak Republic. The first part reviews its economic development since its independence until the global financial and economic crisis and selected current macroeconomic patterns are presented. Consequently, the Slovak perception of the concept of economic diplomacy in comparison to trade and commercial diplomacy is explained. The last part analyses the objectives, organisational structure, actors involved and their relationship, and assesses the model of the organisation of the economic diplomacy. The outputs are evaluated and the main challenges in the times of current economic crisis are identified in the conclusion.
