Can entropy and TOPSIS be used to analyse personnel effectiveness appraisal scheme in an organisation?

Billy B. Archer and Akyene Tetteh

International Journal of Decision Sciences, Risk and Management, 2021, vol. 10, issue 1/2, 78-92

Abstract: Many organisations have developed various appraisal schemes to assess the performance of their employees and address other competency requirements. However, undertaking these appraisal exercises costs a lot of money and sometimes they become mere historical or academic repositories of information gathering. The data gathered cannot be properly interpreted to benefit the individual assessed and achieve the organisation's purpose. In light of these difficulties, the application of entropy analysis and TOPSIS in analysing appraisal schemes can provide a lot of interpretations. The results suggested each worker's areas of strength and weakness and help to reveal problems which may be restricting progress and causing inefficient work practices.
