A hierarchical decision model for optimum design alternative selection

Abstract:
Head injury criterion test at Rockwell Collins Flight Dynamics is a requirement for many new government regulatory agency certifications of head-up display systems. A number of design alternatives are available which would meet the regulatory requirement, and a number of seemingly disparate considerations are taken into account when a decision is made regarding the optimum regulatory compliance strategy. No formal method has been used to quantify the decision parameters and integrate them into a decision method. This paper presents a methodology based on hierarchical decision models.
