A research on the women accountants in Turkey

Abstract: In the fast changing period of our world, changes in the demographic features of workforce and consumers changed the traditional status of women results increasing the women's role in social and economic life. According to this, women's participation to workforce and career improvement rate has increased significantly. In this study, it is aimed to find out the obstacles and difficulties which prevent the career aim for women working as an accountant in Turkey. The required data were collected via a questionnaire applied to 300 women CPAs and office personnel working in accountancy offices in four (west, east, south and north) regions (developing and less developed areas) in total 21 cities. Questionnaires are analysed with SPSS programme. At the end of this study, women have some professional obstacles because of being a women has been determined.
