Abstract:
This paper examines the macroscopic determinants such as the asymmetries of the exchange rate and equity index of the number of newly established firms from Vietnam's perspectives. Employing a rich set of econometric techniques with weekly data from the first week of 2016 to October 2018, we attempt to shed further light on what drives the change of a number of Vietnamese companies registered and the amount of money invested in businesses. This paper serves as a foundation for future studies on the relationship between exchange rate stability and the decision to start up as well as a reference source for the decision-making process of both investors and policymakers in the context of the national entrepreneurship campaign.
