The correlation between education expenditure and higher education in Pakistan

Abstract: Higher education is considered as one of the essential factors that enables people to improve aptitudes and learning that in turn progressively affects human capital in the development, growth, and prosperity of a country as well as in poverty reduction, skill development and provision of important services. Knowing the importance of higher education, this study empirically examines the correlation and impact of public education expenditure on higher education in Pakistan. The study found that public education expenditure has a positive and significant effect on higher education showing that satisfactory share of public education expenditure brings an increase in attaining higher education in Pakistan. Moreover, the number of universities and university teachers has also a noteworthy effect on higher education in Pakistan.
