Abstract: Healthcare is a determining factor for the well-being of a person, family, and community, as well as a requirement for equal human development. The third sustainable development goal of the 2030 Agenda is mainly to 'Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages'. The aim of this paper is to analyse the determining factors of innovation in human healthcare related activities in Colombia for the 2014-2015 period. The investigation methodology is a study using the ordered multinomial logit of the types of innovation from 1,061 companies, in accordance with the Survey of Technological Development and Innovation (EDIT V) from the National Administrative Department of Statistics. The results show that only 0.1% innovated strictly speaking, evidencing the pressing need to strengthen the alliance between the state and organisations with the purpose of promoting the innovative creation of products, services, and solutions for the sector.
