Economic and social causes for a late development: India vs. Ethiopia

Abstract: Awareness on the characteristics of a country is often a preliminary requirement for the full understanding of the feasible solutions to its lack of development. The aim of this paper is to study, to analyse and to identify the multiple reasons for a lack of development in two very different areas of the world: Tamil Nadu, in India and Ethiopia, in Africa. The study tries to imagine the best ways to start a development process by the transferral of funds and skills to the deprived areas, with the crucial aim to provide policy indications to those countries that want to undertake the same process. Defining a model of integrated and sustainable development for disadvantaged areas could allow the entire population to experiment better conditions from a social, cultural and economic point of view.
