Culture and entrepreneurial efficacy: using GEM data to explore opportunity and capability in relation to firm longevity

Abstract: Following a useful review of the literature, this article uses data obtained by the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor to investigate opportunity and also capability, in relation to firm longevity. Findings show that Māori face a distinct disadvantage in terms of firm survival, when compared to others in New Zealand. Gender is also an important explanatory variable.
