International Journal of Entrepreneurship and Small Business, 2015, vol. 26, issue 3, 280-292

Abstract: The existing literature on entrepreneurial intention focuses mainly on measuring the intention and behaviour of prospective entrepreneurs towards taking up own ventures. However studies that focus on behaviour of youth towards export-entrepreneurship are very limited. The purpose of this study is to identify the factors that motivate students to take up export-entrepreneurship by empirically applying the theory of planned behaviour. On partial application of the model, it was found that the variables get reduced to three factors namely attitude, subjective norms and perceived control. The three variables together explain more than 50% of the entrepreneurial intention of the respondent youths. The study is a first step in analysing the intention of Indian youth to take up export ventures. Future studies can be directed to predict the behaviour of the respondents using the intention.
