Contributing and constraining factors faced by women entrepreneurs in the informal sector: a study of Mumbai Metropolitan

Abstract: Women, especially poor women in urban areas, tend to be concentrated in various jobs and activities in the informal sector. Majority of the women seek employment out of economic necessity, but of these a large number are unable to find employment because of various reasons. This study aimed at identifying factors contributing and inhibiting entrepreneurship in Mumbai City of India. Influencing factors also stated in literature as 'contributing' factors are those motives that draw individuals to change either in their work or personal space. Inhibiting factors are those factors which hinders or impede an individual for achieving what one wants to do. These factors generally have a negative impact.
