Abstract: This study explores two questions: What are the obstacles that Druze women face in both their traditional society and Israeli democratic society when they want to become entrepreneurs? And secondly, how do they overcome these obstacles? To answer these questions, we use a case study analysis: the story of Savta Gamila (Savta means grandmother in Hebrew), a religious Druze woman who manufactures and sells herbal soaps worldwide. A combination of personal characteristics and the ability to recognise opportunities and act upon them helped Gamila overcome the obstacles to becoming an entrepreneur.
