International Journal of Environmental Technology and Management, 2022, vol. 25, issue 6, 501-518

Abstract: Plastics waste is one of the major environmental concerns in India now due to huge consumption and arbitrary disposal. The inappropriate management of plastics waste causes various hazards to public health as well as the environment and the ecosystem. Different studies reveal that plastics are disposed by open dump in a haphazard or unscientific mode, creating problems to environment directly or indirectly because of non-degradation and non-decomposition. This study provide a comprehensive review of plastics waste reprocess, applications and significance, evaluation of the current status and identification of major concerns of plastics dumping in different cities and towns. Assortments of adopted reprocess technologies for plastics are critically reviewed, along with their advantages and disadvantages. The manuscript is concluded with some fruitful suggestions that future work should focus on improving the reprocess techniques, which may be useful to encourage the researchers to predict the prevailing plastics waste conditions and better optimisation.
