Abstract:
The focus of the present work is on the development of a multiple criteria methodological framework for the evaluation of alternative sites of waste treatment facilities which will support the decision making process and has been implemented in the study region of the Prefecture of East Attica, Greater Athens area, Greece. Two sets of criteria have been developed: the first set was used for the elimination of the less appropriate areas while the second for the evaluation of the prevailing alternatives. The overall results suggest that the methodology developed proved to be a robust tool for the evaluation of alternative sites.
