A review on smart metering infrastructure

Abstract: Smart metering, a subset of the smart grid architecture has evolved over the years as power system infrastructure demand efficient energy management initiative. The basic challenge of inefficient energy utilisation and energy wastage in consumer premise in an energy saving driven society has led to the development of smart metering solutions. This paper therefore provides a review on smart metering technology, its' design requirements, protocols and challenges, policy issues.
