Carbon savings potential of energy-efficient motor technologies in Central and Eastern Europe

Abstract:
This paper presents a brief overview of motor technologies and the main results of the characterisation of electricity use in Central and Eastern European countries, as well as the results of the assessment of carbon and electricity savings potential of energy efficient motor technologies in this field. Because this sector is scattered over many countries and because it was quite difficult to obtain accurate information on motor electricity use, only the main countries have been subject to this evaluation. The countries included in the study were Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Russia, Slovakia and Ukraine.
