General problems of the policy of efficient energy consumption in Central and Eastern European countries

Abstract: In this article, the results of studies provided from the former Polish Ministry of Planning and Institute of Environment Engineering of the Polish Academy of Sciences, concerning energy conservation policy in Central and Eastern European countries, experiences from former centrally planned economies working towards transition conditions, were analysed. The general problems regarding the economy and energy conservation in the transition period from a centrally planned to a market economy are discussed.
