Abstract:
On the basis of findings from the "Zittau seminar on the energy-industry situation in the countries of Eastern Europe" held annually since 1991 for 11 Central and Eastern European transformation countries, comparative examinations of their economic and energy-industry developments since 1990 are carried out. Besides developments in energy consumption in the countries as a whole, and in individual consumption sectors, comparisons of the development of energy prices are also made. The studies reveal that the state of development during the transition from a centrally planned economy to a market economy is still often very varied.
