Abstract:
In this paper, the research results obtained on the influences of biodiesel on the components of an engine are presented. The study was carried out at the Dumlupinar University in Turkey. Biodiesel has been an alternative fuel for diesel engines since 1900s. However, the use of biodiesel has recently been increasing owing to indelible increase in petroleum price and consumption. Furthermore, the efforts for the environmental protection have been increasing all around the world. Many researches on biodiesel that have concerned engine gas emissions and engine performances have been carried out so far. However, this work was realised to consider the effects of biodiesel on engine components at real time and long term conditions.
