Rajesh K. Pillania

International Journal of Globalisation and Small Business, 2006, vol. 1, issue 4, 393-406

Abstract: Globally, scholars agree on the emergence of knowledge as the critical resource. Leveraging knowledge, the key resource of knowledge economy, is the best way to sustainable competitive advantage. In the beginning, the research focus and attention on leveraging knowledge was on big firms. The Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) are the key contributors to global economy, trade and employment. Due to various reasons and including that of limited resources, leveraging knowledge becomes crucial for SMEs, even more than that for big firms. There is a huge research gap on the subject in SMEs in general and in Indian SMEs in particular. The paper attempts to fill this research gap and adds to the global body of knowledge on leveraging knowledge in SMEs.
