Enterprise system in a mid-sized Indian manufacturing organisation - a case study

Kapil Dev Singh

International Journal of Indian Culture and Business Management, 2017, vol. 14, issue 3, 257-273

Abstract: High Foam is a mid-sized process manufacturing organisation based out of India. The case study dispels the popular myth that Indian small and medium enterprises, especially in the manufacturing sector, are not successful in adopting information technology for business advantage. The relentless endeavours and a soft style of the chief information officer (CIO), the support of the managing director and the executive directors and a gradual approach towards building the ERP has resulted into a seamlessly integrated enterprise wide system. The case study highlights important learnings for small and medium manufacturing enterprises in India and other developing countries. These learnings can be categorised under three broad heads, the CIO leadership approach, role of top management and the broader approach to developing and implementing the enterprise system or the ERP.
