International Journal of Indian Culture and Business Management, 2022, vol. 26, issue 3, 309-327

Abstract: To achieve sustainable development, SMEs must strive towards growth. Studies have proved that strategic planning is one of the tools which can effectively escalate the performance of SMEs. This study attempts to understand the scenario of the strategic planning process in the small firms located in Delhi/NCR using an interpretive approach. Descriptive analysis is used to know the manager's perception towards the planning process and the barriers they face while adopting strategic planning. Data was collected through a structured interview with the 47 owners/managers. The investigation of the result shows that despite having a positive notion towards strategic planning, the managers lack the knowledge of proper implementation of the process.
