Influence of organisational citizenship behaviour on the individual work performance of IT and ITES employees

Abstract:
Survival of any business is dependent on the performance of the organisation, which is the collective measure of individual work performance of the employees, and has been a major challenge for the IT and ITES sector where the performance management system is continuously evolving and many employees are on job cuts and in benches due to poor performance. Organisational citizenship behaviour (OCB) is a concept where the employee tries to contribute to the organisation without expecting high rewards for the extra role behaviours at work. This empirical study tries to establish the relation between the OCB and individual work performance (IWP) of the employees in IT and ITES sector. The data was collected from 500 employees and non-probability, convenient sampling technique was adopted. Regression analysis was conducted to find out the relationship between OCB, OCB-O, OCB-I and IWP. The results of the analysis revealed a significant relationship among the variables.
