High-performance human resource practices contributing to organisational outcomes in the service industry

Abstract:
Innovation and employee retention are the two important factors that organisations try to get a grip of. High-performance human resource practices (HPHRP) are one such solution to achieve these organisational outcomes. The paper examines the contribution of HPHRP and perceived organisational support (POS) towards employee service innovative behaviour (ESIB), and intention to remain (IR). The study includes 405 participants from the Indian service sector. Confirmatory factor analysis was done to test the measurement model. Structural equation modelling is used to test the hypothesis. The significant positive impact of HPHRP on POS, ESIB, and IR can be seen. Also, POS acts as an important mediator between HPHRP and ESIB, and HPHRP and IR. The results help the managers to understand the importance of HPHRP in building POS and increasing the employee's innovative behaviour and retaining them. Earlier studies have assessed the impact of HPHRP on POS, ESIB, and IR, but not in India.
