International Journal of Information and Decision Sciences, 2018, vol. 10, issue 3, 222-234

Abstract: The advancements in the information technology have emerged a new approach in the field of distributed computing referred as cloud computing that has garnered tremendous popularity in the short time span. Cloud computing is one type of internet-based computing in which the service providers provide the various services and resources in the sharable mode to the cloud customers on demand. As a result of the rapid growth of this approach, most of the IT companies such as IBM, HP, Microsoft, Amazon, Google have started to offer various cloud services to the users. Due to the huge availability of the cloud service providers, it becomes extremely challenging from the customer's point of view to select the most suited cloud service provider (CSP). In this research, the problem of the CSP selection is formulated as multi-attribute decision making problem and distance-based approximation (DBA) method is anticipated to solve the problem. In order to validate the applicability of the proposed method, the results are compared with the well known methodology, namely analytical hierarchy process (AHP) and fuzzy-AHP.
