Abstract: The presented study aims to analyse the barriers of implementation of sustainable human resource management (SHRM) in the Indian manufacturing sector using DEMATEL. Here, different barriers have been identified with the help of available literature. These barriers have been categorised into three categories, social, environmental, and economic based on the triple bottom line. Each barrier consists of few sub-barriers and a total of 13 barriers have been discussed. The DEMATEL approach has been applied to determine cause and effect relation among the barriers. The results show that environmental barriers behave like cause and social and economic barriers behave like effects. It is deduced that under economic category, profitability is the most important barrier followed by green encouragement management system which falls under environmental category. The study helps the firms to determine which barriers need their attention the most so that work can be done efficiently and in a planned manner.
