Edification: towards a philosophy for change management

Abstract: This paper proposes an 'edification' philosophy for change management. In place of the traditional concept of 'going from here to there' for change management, the edification philosophy recognises that states are transient and that the process of change is just a series of redescriptions. The edification philosophy is to enhance our awareness through a continuing conversation which is nothing but a series of redescriptions generated by the participating parties. The edification philosophy thus facilitates the organisation's redescription process and therefore, the tasks of change management.
