International Journal of Information Systems and Change Management, 2009, vol. 4, issue 1, 15-41

Abstract: IT consulting firms develop consulting methodology to standardise their consulting practice and to ensure the quality of their consulting work. Consulting firms may implement their consulting methodologies through either procedures, methods or procedures and methods combined approach. This study surveyed the contents from websites of 64 IT consulting companies and further compared and analysed a variety of consulting methodologies offered in the IT consulting industry. IS consulting projects may face unexpected demand for changes during their working period. For these reasons, change management becomes a needed endeavour to IS consulting practice. Changes occurred in project period cause risks and uncertainties. These risks and uncertainty can be monitored and controlled through implementing suitable change management and change auditing processes. This paper discusses various stages and activities of implementing change management and change auditing during IS consulting practice. Integrating change management and change auditing into consulting firm's methodology would enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of consulting practice.
