The role of social capital and organisational learning in promoting innovation performance

Abstract: Knowledge and innovation have become the keys to the existence of enterprises in such current rapidly changing and complex environment. Consequently, how enterprises utilise social capital and organisational learning to promote innovation performance has been a topic of interest to scholars and practitioners. Therefore, this study focused on the Taiwanese biotechnology industry and issued questionnaires via purposive sampling, and then conducted structural equation modelling (SEM) using 105 valid questionnaires to test the hypotheses. The main findings were as follows: 1) internal social capital and external social capital significantly and positively affect organisational learning; 2) organisational learning significantly and positively affects innovation performance; 3) organisational learning is an important full mediator of internal/external social capital and innovation performance.
