Impact of computerised physician order entry in Jordanian hospitals by using technology acceptance model

Abstract:
The computerised physician order entry (CPOE) refers to computer-based systems that are similar to automating medication ordering process in features and that guarantees standardised. However, there is a lack of adoption and usage acceptance among physicians in the hospitals in Jordan. Therefore, this paper aimed to examine post implementation usage behaviour of CPOE among physicians in Jordanian hospitals based on technology acceptance model (TAM). Specifically, technical factors include instability of new software providers (INSP) and software quality (SQ) the researchers extended TAM and its use to predict actual CPOE use. The model posits the determinants of actual CPOE use includes perceived ease of use (PEOU), perceived usefulness (PU), behavioural intention (BI) to use and usage of CPOE adoption (UA). Quantitative research approach using questionnaire was adapted. Considering that this study is focused on CPOE systems, the research model can be employed in other countries to examine CPOE system.
