Abstract:
A survey has been conducted to create a database of hand anthropometric dimensions of 878 male industrial workers from medium and small enterprises of Haryana state of India. A set of selected 37 right-hand anthropometric dimensions are measured using the techniques as per the guidelines in NASA – 1024 (1978). This database will be useful for new designs/design modifications of hand tools, work stations, hand apparel, protective equipments, etc. Primary data collected in the study have been used to compute minimum, maximum, mean, standard deviation (SD), coefficient of variation, standard error of mean and different percentile values of all the measured dimensions using SPSS-16 software package. The anthropometric dimensions of the subjects of this state have been compared with the population of the other states of the country. Comparison of mean and SD values of hand anthropometric dimensions of the subjects of the state with other adult male population of Jordan, Mexico, Vietnam and Bangladesh has also been made.
