Abstract: Knowledge management (KM) is pivotal for enhancing higher education in emerging markets, fostering innovation, improving decision-making, and increasing institutional efficiency. This study investigates the implementation of KM practices in higher education institutions (HEIs) in the UAE, comparing practices between private and public universities. KM practices were assessed across four dimensions: communication, training and mentoring, KM policy and strategy, and knowledge capture. A total of 416 self-administered questionnaires were utilised to determine the extent of KM practice adoption in UAE HEIs. The findings indicate that all four dimensions are implemented as KM practices in UAE HEIs, with communication being the most frequently practiced activity in both private and public universities. Notably, there are differences in KM practices between private and public universities, with public universities exhibiting a higher degree of training and mentoring, KM policy and strategy, and knowledge capture. Additionally, the study reveals a correlation between the four dimensions. The research concludes with implications, limitations, and recommendations for further study.
