 Determinants behaviour affecting the air cargo flow in COVID-19 pandemic time on route Lisbon-Dubai-Lisbon: application with partial least squaresJosé Manuel Vicente International Journal of Knowledge Management in Tourism and Hospitality, 2023, vol. 3, issue 1, 69-100 Abstract: In March 2020, the World Health Organization announced COVID-19 as a pandemic, prompting all countries to take strict measures to contain the pandemic outbreak. The restrictions were applied by countries without uniform criteria, however, in the air transport industry, the decision was international and culminated in the closure of airports, resulting in a serious economic crisis. The present investigation aims to demonstrate the strategic importance of air cargo transportation in the context of a pandemic. This study aims to analyse how the COVID-19 influenced the air cargo transportation (Emirates) on the Lisbon-Dubai-Lisbon route. For this purpose, a relationship was established between the different variables and the problem identified, using statistical data worked through panel data and the partial least squares regression (PLSR) method. In the study, the positive impacts on the air cargo flow derived from GDP, fare and yield should be highlighted and the negative impacts, derived from the restrictions imposed by COVID-19.
