Didn't you know about it? A grounded theory study of knowledge implementation in a diversified business organisation in the Kingdom of Bahrain

Abstract:
Knowledge has become one of the most important assets in any organisation. How knowledge is managed is crucial, especially when new knowledge is brought into an organisation. However, very little is said about what facilitates the implementation of new knowledge. We performed a grounded theory study to investigate the knowledge implementation process in a diversified business organisation in the Kingdom of Bahrain. We discovered that mean-making and benefits recognition were the two most important factors influencing the knowledge implementation process, and that information channels and knowledge sources contributed to make sense of new knowledge and increased its perceived benefits. Implications for both theory and practice are discussed, and suggestions for future research are offered.
