International Journal of Logistics Systems and Management, 2018, vol. 31, issue 2, 207-223

Abstract: In this paper, designing of a supply chain regarding environmental consideration is addressed. For this purpose, a mixed integer linear programming model is proposed which integrates decisions about environmental investment and selection of active facilities in the network of the supply chain. In the proposed model, the emission of the environmental pollutants is considered through all stages of the supply chain for calculating the environmental effects of products according to the life cycle assessment (LCA) method. For each product, some limitations are considered that affect supply chain decisions. Such limitations may be imposed by environmental protection agencies or regional scheme. Also, due to uncertainty in some parameters of the proposed model, a robust optimisation approach is applied which makes the obtained solution robust and feasible with predetermined level of confidence against variability in uncertain parameters. The computational results illustrate the high performance of the proposed model.
