Abstract:
The assignment of locations is one of the warehouse management pillars. This paper presents a new method for assigning to each product, the optimum location relative to the product and to the location assignment system. To achieve this objective, we propose the integration of an infotronic technology carried by product. By this, the product becomes smart and able to find the best location where it must be stored. We consider each empty location or set of empty locations a section called critical section. Thus, by being intelligent, the smart products must manage the access to these sections. We have applied the solution to manage the locations assignment in a steel coil warehouse. Thus, we have validated that piloting by product allows optimal managements of locations assignment.
