Modelling the factors affecting the adoption of mobile supply chain management in the food distribution industry

Abstract:
Mobile supply chain management (mSCM) can be considered as a solution to reduce costs and increase competitive advantage. Thus, this study aims to identify the key factors affecting the adoption of mSCM systems and explore their importance in the food distribution industry. For this purpose, a survey has been conducted among 90 companies active in the food field, and the required data was collected through a questionnaire distributed among experts and managers of these companies. Data analysis was carried out via structural equation modelling. Constructs of the research model are obtained from the combination of technology, organisation, and environment (TOE) theory and inter-organisational relationships theory (IOR), which is prioritised from the users' point of view as IOR factors, environmental factors, organisational factors, and technological factors. Besides, research findings show that in the IOR dimension, as the key factor in the adoption of mSCM, 'information sharing' is far more substantial.
