Abstract:
The proper sustainable criteria selection is an essential phase in the decision-making process for sustainable supplier selection. This study presents a decision-making model based on the application of the fuzzy DEMATEL technique to select sustainable criteria and evaluate the relationships among them for supplier selection problems. The criteria used were based on the triple bottom-line dimensions (economic, environmental, and social). The DEMATEL operations were performed using triangular fuzzy numbers to represent the linguistic terms of experts' judgments. The DEMATEL causal diagram shows the degree of importance and influence of each criterion, which is analysed by managers to select the most relevant ones. The proposed model was applied to a real case of a glass packaging company. The application results show a consensus among experts' perspectives and a clear understanding of sustainable criteria importance and their interrelationships, which can be used for the development of company sustainable strategies.
