Abstract:
Industry 4.0 is highly debated and discussed among academicians and practitioners with respect to its nature, scope, and practicality. With a high involvement of digitisation and technology, the transformation of an organisation from conventional to Industry 4.0 is highly complex especially during current organisational operations. By the help of in-depth systematic and bibliometric analysis, this study highlights the significant contributions made by the authors, institutions and countries across 1,554 studies which further lead to the identification of the important phenomena and areas that can further expand the literature. In addition to this, the review also identified essential components, key enablers and barriers, whereas key enablers identified will complement the adoption. Since Industry 4.0 is still at the introduction stage, the barriers that may hinder the industrial transformation are accentuated; practitioners need to work on reducing these barriers, for the success and sustainability of Industry 4.0.
