Abstract:
Over time, ports have ceased to be mere cargo handling agents to become key elements and transforming agents. The need for innovation has become fundamental. Given this relevance, port innovation was addressed in this study through a systematic literature review of articles indexed in Scopus database from 2000 to 2021. An initial sample of 212 articles was identified. We applied inclusion and exclusion criteria to analyse the documents. A final sample of 86 articles was selected. We conducted an in-depth analysis of the sample. The analysis indicated that most publications consider the port innovation in a broader way and the container port logistics chain as the main research subjects. However, other emerging port-innovation subjects were also found, such as environmental aspects, personnel development, and skills management.
