Identifying trends in trade and logistics performance: a systematic literature review

Ashish Bhatt and Bijal Zaveri

International Journal of Logistics Systems and Management, 2025, vol. 50, issue 2, 163-178

Abstract: The logistics performance index (LPI) of the World Bank is a useful tool for countries to assess their current situation and evaluate their performance in the global logistics industry. The findings of the study confirm the link between logistics performance and a country's economic growth. For Africa, Europe, and Asia, literature has found a favourable relationship between logistical performance and international trade. The study looked at 151 research publications and analysed them by year, region, and income, as well as citations of research articles and authors, top journals with citation data, and methodologies employed in research articles with suggestions. The findings shed light on the current situation of LPI and foreign trade. The study suggested that the new researcher focus more on low-income groups using new statistical tools and approaches, as well as new factors such as logistics cooperation and collaboration.
