Inequality and social outcomes – the journey to the spirit level and beyond: an interview

Richard Wilkinson

International Journal of Management Concepts and Philosophy, 2010, vol. 4, issue 2, 126-136

Abstract: This paper is based on an extended interview with Richard Wilkinson by the acting editor of the IJMCP, exploring the arguments of Wilkinson's co-authored discussion with Kate Pickett in The Spirit Level (2009) of how social inequality leads to negative social and health outcomes across the globe. The interview deals with the role of social epidemiology and Professor Wilkinson's career and his responses to some of the arguments that his work has stimulated, its relevance to business and management, and his own views as to how it should develop.
