Sustainability and ethical decision making: the Bovince case

Abstract: The concepts of sustainable development and corporate social responsibility are, increasingly, attracting public attention and scrutiny. Though generating profit remains the primary objective of any business, what has become clear is that the socially responsible policies ought not to conflict with economic goals and, thus, should be integrated into, and become inherent within, the decision-making process. There are, indeed, many examples within large companies but few within the small medium sized enterprises (SMEs) sectors. As such, Bovince Limited has been selected to illustrate that any size organisation has the ability, and ought to have the commitment, to behave in an ethically socially responsible way through sustainability in its policies, whether they are from an operational or strategic viewpoint, or both.
