Leadership roles as determinants of criminal investigation performance: an empirical study of Norwegian police as value shop

Abstract:
Executives place varying emphasis on different leadership roles. Their emphasis is expected to influence organisational performance. This paper reports an empirical study of leadership roles and the performance of police investigations as value shops in Norway. Survey results indicate that the leadership role of resource allocators has a significant positive influence on investigation performance. Investigation performance was measured in terms of value shop activities. The value shop is a problem-solving value configuration.
