Small shop competitiveness: a technologistical perspective

Jace A. Baker and Pat McInturff

International Journal of Management and Enterprise Development, 2008, vol. 5, issue 4, 410-423

Abstract: Conventional wisdom holds that the manufacturing sector in post-industrial countries is doomed to continue its exodus to low-wage countries. The authors present a contrarian view that manufacturing can be retained, and perhaps grown, via reliance on small manufacturing operations rather than traditional large-scale operations.

Keywords: agile manufacturing; enterprise; information management; logistics; production economics; small firms; manufacturing SMEs; technology management; small and medium-sized enterprises. (search for similar items in EconPapers)
